 2020 Ford F-150 vs. 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 | Inverness, FL

The competition between the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado 1500 is anything but new. These two iconic American brands have been vying for the best-truck title for many generations. However, only one of them has been America's best-selling truck for 42 years straight, and that's the Ford F-Series. We'll show you how the 2020 F-150 stands its ground as the better truck over the 2020 Silverado 1500.

Torque and Horsepower

Both the 2020 Ford F-150 and the 2020 Silverado 1500 have a six-engine lineup. It's an impressive range of outputs that drivers will appreciate in both competitors. However, if you look more closely at these engines, you'll see that the Ford powertrains consistently take the lead when it comes to specs. For instance, the F-150 promises the best-in-class gas torque with its 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6, which delivers 470 lb-ft.  The best you'll see in the Silverado 1500 is 460 lb-ft.

The Ford F-150 also boasts the best-in-class horsepower, thanks to its High-Output 3.5-liter EcoBoost®. This engine comes in the F-150 Limited and Raptor trims, and kicks out 450 horsepower, much more than the 420 horses that come from the Silverado's biggest performer.

Payload

When equipped with its 5.0-liter TI-VCT V8, the Ford F-150 can offer more best-in-class capability. With this engine the Ford hauls more weight in its payload than competitors, with a maximum of 3,270 pounds. The Silverado can only haul up to 2,250 pounds.

Class-Exclusive Trailering Technology

These two trucks offer some similar gadgets to help you feel confident while you're towing, hauling, or commuting, but the Ford has some features like no other offered in its many competitors. One such tool is the Pro Trailer Backup Assist™. The available amenity makes it much easier to maneuver your trailer. All you have to do is steer its direction with a knob located next to the steering wheel.

Driver-Assist Features

Driver-assist features are becoming increasingly available in the truck segment, but the Ford F-150 is the only one to offer the Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite of technologies. These include potentially life-saving features like Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage, Pre--Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, and a Lane-Keeping System.
