All Ford Blue Certified used vehicles must pass a 139-point inspection. Factory-trained technicians work through this list, marking each item as passed, repaired (to meet program standards), or replaced (with new Ford Motorcraft®, Omnicraft™, or Ford Authorized Remanufactured Parts).

Each used vehicle's history evaluation includes a VIN inspection and service recall check. The vehicle is then road tested for everything from engine starting and idling properly to transmission operation, steering to suspension, and brakes to wind noise.

The exterior check ensures no evidence of flood, fire, major or hail damage; power liftgate and power-sliding doors operate properly; windshield, side- and rear-window glass integrity; wiper blade replacement; and exterior lights function.

The interior inspection reviews airbags, safety belts, audio and alarm systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, numerous interior amenities, window controls, door locks, and the luggage compartment.

Under the hood, everything from fluids to the engine, cooling, fuel, and electrical systems are monitored. The frame, exhaust system, transmission, transaxle, differential, transfer case, tires and wheels, and brakes are also assessed.
