Trust in our knowledge and expertise.

With today's hi‐tech vehicles, even something seemingly as simple as an oil change requires up‐to‐date knowledge of a vehicle's engine and its specs. You get that at Nick Nicholas Ford Inc. We have the right parts, tools and techs to help ensure your service is done correctly the first time.

Why are oil changes so important?

Getting your oil changed at regular intervals as recommended by your owner's manual is crucial to the longevity of your vehicle. Motor oil lubricates the many working parts in your engine, allowing it to do its important job with minimal friction. Oil also helps regulate engine temperature, keeping it from overheating, and keeps your engine clean.

If you leave old oil in your engine for too long, it becomes a sludge-like substance. This makes it difficult for your engine to work efficiently and can result in performance and fuel economy losses. Over time, it can cause your engine to work so hard that it overheats and, ultimately, suffers catastrophic damage.

Not following factory-recommended guidelines for oil changes can also void your warranty, leaving you on the hook for big repair bills. If you've recently purchased a new Ford vehicle and want to enjoy the full protection of your factory warranty, be sure that you're following all guidelines for routine service and maintenance.

Bottom line: skipping an oil change to save a few dollars today can cost you big bucks in the long run. Regular oil changes ensure that you get the most out of your engine for as long as possible and keep your car running smoothly well beyond the 100,000-mile mark.

As with all types of routine car care, your best bet is to turn to your owner's manual to figure out what needs to be done and how often you need to do it. If it's mentioned in there, it's essential vehicle maintenance that should be completed consistently for the health of your vehicle.

How do I know my oil needs changing?

Paying close attention to your vehicle's owner's manual and its scheduled maintenance intervals at the recommended mileage, will help ensure that oil changes are done before any engine damage can occur.

For 2008 and newer model‐year vehicles, Ford recommends changing your oil every 7,500 miles or every six months, whichever comes first.

For 2007 and older model‐year vehicles, Ford recommends an oil change every 5,000miles or every six months, whichever comes first.

Another way to keep track is by watching the oil monitor message on your dashboard. Many newer‐model vehicles come equipped with the Intelligent Oil‐Life Monitor® that will inform you when it's time to change your oil and filter.
