If you are looking for a great place to live or visit in Florida, we're proud to recommend Inverness. At Nick Nicholas Ford, this beautiful city is where we call home, and we love working and living here.
History
In the late 1800s, the area that we call Inverness today was originally named Tompkinsville. The community was started by A. D. Tompkins, who helped establish the first mail service in the area and build the first sawmill. A few years later, the town was sold, and the name was changed to Inverness. According to historians, a lonely Scottish man said the area reminded him of the lochs in Scotland and the area was officially named after the Scottish city of Inverness. The city was incorporated in 1919.
