Ford has one of today's most diverse vehicle lineups - not to mention one of the freshest in the industry. The Blue Oval brand offers a wide range of vehicles with different fuel options ranging from gasoline-powered engines to zero-emission battery electric. No matter what style of vehicle you're looking for or how you plan to fuel it, Nick Nicholas Ford has choices you can count on.
Fuel types for your Ford vehicle
Gasoline
Gasoline or petrol has been the prevailing source of fuel for cars for well over a century. Powering an internal combustion engine, gas mixes with air and is essentially exploded to motivate pistons kept in cylinders. Technologies like turbocharging and innovations like the Atkinson cycle help improve performance and efficiency. Gas is the most widely available fuel source for vehicles as well. Several vehicles in today's Ford lineup still rely solely on gas-powered internal combustion engines, including the Mustang, Edge, and Expedition.
Flex fuel
A flex-fuel vehicle has a special engine that is capable of running on traditional gasoline or a mix of gasoline and ethanol. The most common blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, or E85, allows an FFV to generate fewer emissions while producing a higher octane rating than gasoline alone. E85 delivers lower fuel economy than gasoline, however, which typically makes FFVs more ideal for use on job sites than regular distance driving. If you're building a business fleet, recent versions of the F-150 offer flex-fuel capabilities, which makes browsing our selection of pre-owned vehicles a great place to start.
Diesel
Another fuel source that's more common for work vehicles is diesel, which produces more energy per gallon burnt than gasoline. This means that diesel engines typically produce much more torque than horsepower, making them useful for towing and hauling payload. The Ford Super Duty offers a 6.7-liter High Output Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8 that generates best-in-class torque up to 1,200 lb-ft, allowing it to top other heavy-duty trucks in conventional and gooseneck towing.
Hybrid
A hybrid vehicle takes your traditional internal combustion engine and pairs it with a battery pack and electric motor. This combination relieves the burden on the engine, levering the motor like a generator. By supplementing engine output and leveraging technologies like regenerative braking, a hybrid powertrain offers superior efficiency compared to an ICE-powered vehicle. A prime example is the new Ford Maverick, which offers a 2.5-liter hybrid option that delivers up to 42 mpg in the city.1 Ford is currently America's top hybrid truck maker thanks to the Maverick and the F-150 PowerBoost®, and it offers the family-friendly Escape with a hybrid option.
Plug-in hybrid
A plug-in hybrid is an excellent bridge between ICE and electric because it offers the best of both worlds. It's entirely possible to drive a PHEV like you would a traditional vehicle without having to charge. But by regularly charging your vehicle at home, you stand to reap excellent fuel-saving benefits. The Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid delivers up to 101 MPGe with a full charge and has the ability to travel shorter distances on electric power alone. Depending on your commute, it's entirely possible to go weeks without needing to fill up at a gas station.
Electric
Electric vehicles are becoming more common and more popular, and that means several benefits for drivers in Inverness, Florida. With better ranges, lower prices, more advanced features, and a larger public charging network, EVs are more reliable than ever. Leveraging electric motors in place of an engine, EVs are capable of delivering incredible power, strength, and speed. The new Mustang Mach-E GT, for example, gets up to 700 lb-ft of torque and can go from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.2 And the F-150 Lightning is America's bestselling electric truck, offering equally impressive speed, serious towing power, and awesome off-road capabilities.
